Carved candles look best when PIGMENT color dyes are used. Pigment colors do not bleed from layer to layer, as other dyes do, even when the candle is hard and cool. If other dyes are used, with time, perhaps months, the colors start to blend together among the color layers, and the beauty of the candle is ruined. The dye blocks can be broken with a hammer... cutting them with a knife takes too long. The blocks can be broken with a hammer into smaller pieces if the blocks are kept cold in a refrigerator. The dyes are packaged in one pound packs... to start put about 4 ounces in each well, and then add more if desired. Remember, it is much easier to add color than to take some out.
